Interview: Compa Bound For US Tour

As December approaches, Manchester-based Compa is set to take on an a tour of the States with his sound of Dubstep; keeping the genre’s scene alight where only a handful are prevailing. The producer, enjoying a successful year with big releases on both DEEP MEDi and Boka Records, has announced a number of sets across the States, playing in cities such as New York (NY), Fort Lauderdale (FL) and Detroit (MI).

Compa, who will also take his music into Canada, offered us a few words before heading over to America and explained to us what he hopes to accomplish with his sets and even teased his ambition for the new year.


SF: So, how are you feeling about embarking on
your first US tour?

Compa: I’m very excited, man! This tour has been over a year in the making.
The visa process was exhausting and it’s not just made me more excited,
but more appreciate of the whole opportunity to be able to go and share my music
all around America and Canada.

SF: Is there any venue or city on your tour that you’re particularly
excited for?

Compa: New York has always been a special city for me and Denver is the
hotspot for Dubstep music. Miami - Fort Lauderdale to be exact - is a place I’ve
been dreaming about visiting for many years and I can’t wait to see Canada…
I could go on! I am mega excited about every city and every show.

SF: For anyone unfamiliar with your live sets, could you suggest
what to expect?

Compa: I just play records to be honest, man. I have a bag of unreleased
and exclusive dub plates, new releases, classic records and I play them all and
enjoy doing so. I hope the people who come to see me play enjoy hearing the music
that I love.



SF: Do we stand with any chance of hearing some new material
over the tour?

Compa: Like I said, I have a bag full of new and exclusive dub platers to play
which comprises of some incredible music by some great artists. To answer your
question; over half of each set is going to comprise of brand new music no-one
has ever heard before!

SF: What can we expect from Compa in the New Year?

Compa: The New Year brings new releases, further touring and more studio time -
I’m excited for 2015 as I am every New Year in which I am still alive on this
crazy planet. Maybe next year I’ll play on the moon? Never say never…

SF: Any word on your next DEEP MEDi release?

Compa: It’s coming - soon! Hold tight!


Compa’s most recent Vinyl offering was back in May, releasing the 10” ‘Murda Dub’ onto Killa Sound (KILLA002), and the producer will return to Manchester for a New Year’s Eve show, performing at the nightclub Joshua Brooks.
