‘’When you find a balance between a passion for music and a pure love of nightlife, you have found the perfect combination to build something unique".

Italian DJ Fabio Florida’s debut EP on Minus, ‘Be You’, is a total embodiment of such a quote. An EP that flows with a delicate grace, but comes complete with ferocity only certain producers with the right tools could create. An EP that represents the times of reflection through the more sombre and light parts of the EP’s fantastic use of instrumentation; but also one that holds the keys to the club entrance where feelings are built and designed to sustain themselves forevermore.

The track 'Be You' is certainly a unique number; a tune comprising of a crisp and cool noises, fighting, fidgeting, bursting like miniature jet-engines taking off to the sound of a bass stuck to every surface, climbing them with infectious melody that tranquilises the listener with one big bite. Futuristic yes, but also highly soulful and emotive, never loosing the human touch despite being a track fixated by machines.

‘Timeless’, again is injected with something that solidifies the tune into contemporary territory. A random assemblage of dramatic atmospherics loom under the main structure of the song, a demonic narrator that draws us in with a voice seductive enough to listen to, but robotic enough to be menacing and dangerous in the ways we all love. The kinetic hisses and hums really offer some flavour to a song that is minimal, but mighty. The odd lick, the occasional line, when partnered with all the weirdness and wonderfulness, is a great way to establish the song as something for the floors to fall through to.

‘Houston’, concludes the EP, a more hard-hitting and heavy number providing the soundtrack to the moment the zombies takeover the siege where survivors are. Like, ‘Timeless’, there are gentle, itching, underlying melodies that assert the song as something evil, but beautiful. Clockwork counting down either the moment the bomb drops or the music starts to overwhelm every sense not chemically altered or desire induced.

Nightmarish, somehow psychedelic, and always exciting, our Florido has released an album that takes pride in development, the bedroom studio, the party nightlife, meeting new people; and puts those experiences, those sights into sounds. Oddly trippy sure, but always edgy and catching our attention with an inescapable grip, but in a way the makes sure we stay awake to witness everything we do and don’t want to see, loose enough to let ourselves go, snug in the notion we still have music, and endless supplies of goodness.
