The Battle Of The PR DJs

Tuesday, February 17, 2015 | Posted by: Joe Rowntree
As you might've seen earlier this month RJ Mitte, better known as Walt Jr from that TV show Breaking Bad, is set to launch a DJ career. Mitte is hot on the heels of Game of Thrones star Hodor in and amongst the exclusive ranks of many other celebrities who have sought to compound their fame with appearances behind the decks at low quality club nights in small towns.

In this ever expanding market for night club appearances celebrities must offer up something different. A 12 am DJ set seems to provide some sort of added value to your brand, and perhaps could mean that you can ride the wave for a little longer.

People come and go in this industry, and not everyone is able to keep hold of this champagne lifestyle. One of the original innovators of this, Danny Dyer, gives us the low down on how to stay at the top of the pile, and credit to him has managed to navigate the perils of this lifestyle, and outlive the short lifespan of the PR DJ

But what is motivating these individuals to risk well respected careers in the search for DJ fame?

There has been many people that spring boarded successful DJ careers off the back of their famous roots, but none more so than Elijah Woods who seems to do away with the idea that this is a venture reserved only for Friday nights out in Great Yarmouth.

You may have heard of Elijah as a DJ before, he has in fact been doing it since 2001, but now joining up with Zach Cowie over their mutual love for vinyl the pair have teamed up to form Wooden Wisdom. Their upbeat style of 70s and 80s Disco and House in what they're calling Paradise Garage is something you'd find very difficult not to enjoy.

What we must understand is that it would in fact be really hard to turn down £400, one of those little hampers of Grey Goose and hear people tell you how great you are for three hours. It's very easy money, and although we'd all like to pretend that we wouldn't do it - we all probably would. If there is anything that the club night has truly championed its that it has brought us to within reaching distance of some of the biggest B-list celebrities out there.

With the list ever expanding If you want to make it in this world then you have to provide something more than just an appearance.
