Johnny D is fresh on the back of his recent release, the ‘Believer EP’, with 8bit-Records offering both vinyl and digital releases going into early February. The EP is swift to start a summer essentials list just into 2015 as the funky-house influences hypnotise through a strong three-track release.
The title-track opens the EP, offering a crisp and addictive production. The repetitive sample grows comforting to the ears as it moves with the resonance of the underlying melody; all of which is complimented with the finish of the hi-hat, compressed to a sweet supplement along with the entirety of Johnny D’s drum tracks.
Both ‘Ellic' and ‘Poluc’ offer a new direction without straying from the formula. With the chimes used frequently opening a Worldwide influence into the tracks, the sounds of summer seep through their entireties.
The beat has been inspired by a cocktail of feel good house, with a concoction of two-step and sharp execution. The swooning that lingers under and over the beat leaves you in a lust for more, with the simplicity of Johnny D’s development key to his conclusive presentation.
An EP that is strong enough to soundtrack the most memorable of summers, here is to Johnny D and confidence the early release won’t be phased before it’s prime. The Vinyl of the Believer EP has been available from the 26th January with a digital release following on 2nd February.
