Fuse - INFUSE 007

This month FUSE London's sister label, Infuse, returns with the seventh installment of its artist showcase series. This three track tech house record features efforts from Wigbert, Inner and Pelle & Roon. A minimal outing in quantity and style but enough funk to keep you dancing.

Wigbert starts off the EP with the infectious ‘Bongo Bongo’. Tribal drums and unearthly symbol crashes guide the track before an acid laced synth takes over. It is funky yet definitively subtle, the percussion work really dominates on this track.

The second offering from Inner, ‘Motif’, takes a more house orientated direction than ‘Bongo Bongo’. The simple but effective bass line and ominous vocal backing guides the track nicely, producing a darkly energetic mid set raise of pressure. Some fairly generic piano stabs feel a little out of place as the track builds, perhaps not complimenting the overall feeling of what could've been a solid track. This criticism of something so minor seems overzealous but let’s just say it would be a great track to remix.

The final track ‘Gida’ is perhaps the highlight. It feels euphoric as it stomps along in the sound scape created by Pelle&Roon. A real mix of energy which would be lethal at different points of the night. The minimal drum work is key to this song; it’s very easy to get lost in only to find yourself dragged back in by that damaging kick. The production is on point and it makes a solid finish to the record.

It’s another groovy EP for the Infuse series. The tracks all have a familiar quality, a similar aesthetic and polished production throughout. These could be very effective if played in the right setting but are diverse enough to not make it too inaccessible. It is undeniably short and sweet, nothing that is going to change the world but sharp and groovy, a solid curation. What more could you want?
