Not all electronic music has to be marginalised and limited to the cold, steel encrusted plates that contain the heart and soul. Instead, electronic music, can indeed be electronic, but also be frothing with an entire rainbow’s worth of vibrancy.
Opening tune, given the same title as the EP itself, draws connotations of multicoloured flashing lights thanks to the majestic synthesiser stabs that boil and bubble to levels just above the surface of the earth. Complete with a highly melodic keyboard pattern, airy, ethereal and dreamy the retro robotics thrum along to a drum beat designed by how hard our bodies move. Ready and always willing, it’s thumping bass bravery and enchanting chord sequence makes it a priceless gem because of its small and delicate groove lost in a moment we can call home and be seen as whole.
Next track in, ‘Variable Zero’, offers more of a punch and personality strengthened by the magical melodies that encompass the short preview. The instruments work together, synched and singing in unison, and the foundations of the song which are nothing more than gentle touches of unusual dramatics, direct the song to divine qualities never lasting more than a blink’s worth of vision, but a lifetime’s worth of oscillating, escalating excitement.
