Kiara Records prepare the very first release in their new 'Knock Knock' series. A collection of vinyl ep's that explore the very depths of electronic music…. Dubby, deep and deadly. First up is eighteen year old French producer, Medeew.
With one so young its easy for us to chart a well documented history of first turn-tables, first gig, first production, but we'd rather concentrate on his music. With five vinyl releases already under his belt for 2012 the future is bright for Medeew and this latest release further highlights the the impressive maturity he displays in his work.
"Whats The Problem" the lead track from the ep perfectly encapsulates the sound of the Knock Knock series. Eerie, deep and hypnotic we are drawn in right from the opening bars. The twisted vocal adds to the mystique as the raw bubbling stabs pierce the drama.

On the remix is another rising talent in, Samu.l. Having first caught our ear with his fantastic edits of artists including Buriel and James Blake, the young producer from Birmingham has since gone on to exhibit the skills and range of sound that has seen him signed to the likes of Baasaal, Saved and One Records. Staying true to the original, Samu.l injects his own 4/4 kick into the dubby beats. This techie edge gives the track a little more bite and drive, making it perfect for late night sessions.
On the flip, "High Grade" finds Medeew teaming up with fellow French duo, Chicks Luv Us. Very much on the same tip as the A, "High Grade" ploughs the dubby path. With added muscle its sub-wrecking throbs of bass are certain to please. On the remix is a man whose sound has been described as "micro-house, minimal techno and dubbed-out goodness," making Romanian producer, Vid, the perfect choice here.
