The whole EP gently eases you into Love Not Money’s vision, demonstrating a mix of warm, atmospheric sounds that are sure to swarm your senses and engulf you in pool of super-deep seduction. Scott’s productions are a window into his soul and his extensive musical background has formed an ambitious and inventive style.
The whole EP is an escalating transition from the Lush laidback sun-kissed sounds of ‘Wishes’ that really captures the low-slung disco sound that has evidently been the back bone of the by gone summer months through to the Deep House sounds of ‘She’s Something’ that blends rolling house grooves, clipped beats, and evolving patterns of warm keys topped with a killer vocal hook.
Sandwiched nicely in between the two you have peak-time tracks ‘Privileges’ & ‘Sentimental Thoughts’ that seamlessly takes the whole EP up a gear and onto the dancefloor, followed by possibly the standout track from the EP ‘Peculiar Girl’. With legends Danny Tenaglia, X-Press 2, and new comers Julio Bashmore & Huxley quick to show support on this one illustrates a present desire for the sounds of the last two decades. Synth lines and a hypnotic Arpeggiator are the order of the day as sultry boogie and soulful vocals are thrown into the spotlight.
With Love Not Money, there is a real sense of community that lends itself to the ever growing consistency of the Leeds scene, with a release carrying as much variation and character as this one, and future releases on the label set to showcase the thriving talent the city and more so the UK has to offer we’re expecting a very promising future from this fresh new label.
